More Jekyll and Hyde cause why not
Lisa: Darling… you’ve been… more vigilant lately. Is everything okay? Is… Is it Hyde?
Jekyll, not having moved from his position on the couch, reading a book: This book is due back to the library tomorrow afternoon, and I am almost done with it. I cannot allow Hyde to take over and read it, because I know for sure that he will spoil it.
Hyde, chilling out in the Mind Space: Oh shit, would I do that?

HOT TAKE ON THE JEKYLL AND HYDE MUSICAL THAT MAKES NO SENSE-
Jekyll and Hyde the musical is amazing to me- it has amazing songs, good singers (Lucy and Jekyll wink wink) and it tells the story nicely from a different POV than the book with their own little adaptations
But I see people hating on the romance part of it- it's not in the book and I get why people would think it's bad, almost like it's forced bc "Oh, a piece of media unrelated to anything like love?? Lets romancise it."
I don't think it's that and here's why lol Him being shown loving Lisa is actually a really smart decision because in the book, he's barely even shown having feelings other than "SCIENCE!!" and "depression… pain… suffering.."
It makes him more humane. In the book, he has no family, no lover. I think it can be a bit distant sometimes, despite me still adoring his character either way. (I mean, I don't have anything against the book. His motives are shown perfectly in it and the book was meant to show him through the suffering he caused himself- or at least that's how I saw it)
But it still really helps visualise his character outside of science and it helps show how much he becomes obsessed over his work
And then Lucy my literal queen-
Hyde obsesses over her in an animalistic manner (literally the way he growls in Alive shows that) and I think this helps show how purely "evil" he is.
He has a "relationship" with her, and is in actual love turned to an unhealthy thing, but he also toys with her (It's a dangerous game shows it (or at least it's how I saw it..)) and I think
It also technically shows him experimenting with his own feelings- Jekyll was never free to be himself and Hyde wasn't created long ago. Him experimenting with his happiness and how he views things, him wanting to kill Lucy shows he wants to see if it's bring him joy as a test to himself in a fucked up way. Another way I see it is that, well, if he experiments with how alive he feels- how happy he is- then he should also experiment on what gives him pain.
Anyways ignore this- it's horrible and makes no sense lol but yeah they're important in my heart guys....

Ok but on a serious note, I have so much to analyse/rant about with Jekyll and Hyde like it's so BRILLIANT and for what:
FYI: Only listened to the 1994 Gothic Thriller Album and thus call 'Emma' by 'Lisa' (and will only refer to her as Lisa, thank you very much <3)
ALRIGHT BUT- Take Me As I Am is the most beautiful romance song ever... Like they're swearing to each other and accepting each other and god they're the most beautiful couple ever.
And then: 'give me your hand, give me your heart!' 'swear to me, we'll never part!' THE FACT THAT LISA IS SO LOYAL TO JEKYLL. She is always by his side, she defends him against her own father in His Work And Nothing More and THEN Jekyll is the one to swear about never parting... But he dies anyway IN FRONT OF HER ON THEIR WEDDING DAY. Tragedy tragedy I'm not crying, you are...
Also about His Work And Nothing More... The overlap is so beautiful. Utterson worries about Jekyll and his work/sanity, Sir Danvers questions everything, Lisa defends Jekyll, and then JEKYLL FINALLY CALLS OUT TO LISA... aaaaaaa
Can I just say asw, the steampunk aesthetic in The World Has Gone Insane... It drives ME INSANE. How it works and blends the madness into something as methodical as like- Train tracks and machinery and work which is everything that Henry Jekyll is all about...
Honorary mention to: 'I see the reaper grinning at my door!' being such an iconic and creepy line for Hyde in that song.
I don't really care for Lucy all that much (sorry Lucy stans). I understand her plight and empathise with her but... Getting with Hyde... Or trying to... Just remember that he's a psycho PLS
Also I love how Hyde's evilness is rather subtle until 'Alive' and then you get the full extent of Jekyll's descent into madness + the murders later on and the whole take over situation... Ofc Confrontation is already iconic but now I understand it and it's brilliant... I think that's enough for today but have fun with that <33

jekyll who does not die at his wedding, but instead must deal with the fallout of it. utterson who understands that jekyll does no control hyde’s actions but is still, in a way, responsible for him. lisa who loves her husband, but struggles to look at him without seeing the face of the man who tried to kill her. sir danvers who cannot stand for any of this, and yet, cannot seem to get away from it either. hyde who is just so glad that he gets to keep living

My Idea for the Modern Comedy-Horror version of the Universal Classic Monster Universe:
• We already have some Familiar Faces behind some REALLY GOOD Base Adaptations of a couple of the films. And they actually help lay some pretty solid groundwork for a huge monster mash up movie.
• Bring Back Kathryn Newton as Lisa Swallows, now the undead Doctor Lisa Frankenstein. And her Groom, Cole Sprouse. They are the basic Undead Mad Scientist/Monster pairing. And FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS UNIVERSAL, make them look just a SMIDGE more like their counterparts? Even just adding Bolts to their necks and making Lisa even MORE Bride of Frankenstein meets Dr. Frankenstein. Maybe give her a cool new Lab Coat and more pronounced Alburn and White hair. But I really do think she could Lead this new generation of Monsters with a BIT of kooky Mad Scientist charm.
• Bring Back Nic Cage and Nicholas Hoult as Dracula and Renfield. And PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE lets cast Drac’s three Wives and make the ‘Dracula and his Three Weed Smoking Girlfriends’ joke a Reality. Nic Cage could have some HILARIOUS banter with some ‘High as Balls’ Actresses and I really think it could be a fun way to soften Drac’s heart a bit.
• Bring back Benicio Del Toro from the 2010 Wolfman remake as Lawrence Talbot . He was really a very good casting choice! Maybe as a reference to Frankenstein meets The Wolf Man, they could have Lawrence coming to Lisa asking her for a way to make him die. And that could lead to them having a heart to heart about life, death, and the acceptance of BOTH.
Or if they want to recast, I think Kyle Gallner has the Potential to play Lawrence Talbot as a Man in a more MODERN setting. He has that really sad thousand yard stare that the character NEEDS. Throughout the film, it could be setting up for the Full Moon, and he could slowly devolve into Madness, which Kyle Gallner is EXTREMELY good at. He does have a more grunge look but honestly slap the man in a tie and slick his hair back and he’s good. (Also I would really love to see him Hitting People with his Wolf’s head cane. Because I think his version of Lawrence would be absolutely UNHINGED.)
• They should add Imhotep/The Mummy, but just for the gag of it all. Like maybe a cameo. Maybe Lisa or one of the other monsters opens a Sarcophagus just for Imhotep to cuss them all out in perfect Ancient Egyptian and then he just goes back to sleep. Lisa just shrugs because ‘It’s a big Lab. I haven’t even seen everything yet.’
•Jekyll/Hyde could be a colleague of Lisa’s. Perhaps maybe Taffy even grows up to marry a Henry Jekyll and becomes a Scientist herself like her sister Lisa… and maybe something goes wrong… TAFFY IS JEKYLL AND HYDE. PLEASE DOES ANYONE ELSE GET THE VISION HERE?
All of the recent réadaptations of these Classic Monsters are so so good! I just need them to fill out the Roster more and HAVE THEM CROSS OVER. The castings for Lisa Frankenstein and Renfield alone were TOO GOOD TO JUST BE ONE OFFS.
